Student Travel Grants

The Martes Working Group has provided 11 travel grants of up to $500 (US) for the 7th International Martes Symposium to be held in Ashland, Wisconsin, 30 July to 2 August 2018.  Travel donations from other professionals may allow us to provide more, so please consider contributing at

The travel grants are designed to promote new members to the MWG, participation from existing members, to promote representation of diverse ecological and cultural systems, and establish a foundation for the future of the Martes Working Group.

Applicants must be members of The Martes Working Group. All registered participants for the 7th Martes Symposium are eligible for the grants. Non-members, please register before the deadline to become eligible for an award.

Preference was given to applicants who:

– are registered students (please submit proof of university attendance), early career-professionals (having completed a degree in the last 3 years), or participants that are based outside of North America.

– are lead authors on abstracts accepted for the symposium.

– can demonstrate a need for financial assistance to attend the meeting.

– represent species and ecosystems within the Martes Complex that are uncommonly studied or represented in the literature.

Highest preference was given to international students from areas or countries not commonly represented at the symposium and individuals that demonstrate a need for assistance to attend the meeting.

Application deadline has past: 15 June
